- Compact fluorescent light bulbs are a great way to use less energy – 80% less that standard light bulbs in fact.
- Insulating your home adequately will reduce the amount of energy you need to use to heat and cool your home
- When purchasing appliances for the home always compare the energy rating labels.
- Turn off the lights when you leave the room
- Be kind to your garden. Mulch your garden well and plant water wise plants
- Switch to renewable energy. Many Energy providers offer green electricity options.
- Think local when purchasing food. The less it has had to travel, the less fuel consumed. Farmers markets are great.
- Use filtered water instead of bottle water.
- When it is cold put on some more clothes before turning the thermostat up.
- When you aren’t using appliances switch them off.
- Recycle wherever possible – many councils now offer recycling programs.
- Wash and reuse jars and containers when possible.
